Democracy Monument

description Democracy Monument Overview

The Democracy Monument is a public monument located on Ratchadamnoen Avenue in the Phra Nakhon district of Bangkok, Thailand. It was commissioned in 1939 to commemorate the Siamese revolution of 1932, which led to the transition from an absolute monarchy to a constitutional monarchy. The monument was designed by Thai architect Mew Aphaiwong, featuring sculptures crafted by the Italian-born artist Corrado Feroci. Its central structure consists of a representation of the Thai Constitution mounted on a golden pedestal, surrounded by four wing-like structures symbolizing the branches of the Thai military that supported the revolution.
