Devil May Cry 5 was developed by Capcom using the RE Engine, the same proprietary technology behind modern Resident Evil games like Resident Evil 7. This allowed the developers to create highly detailed character models and realistic lighting effects. The RE Engine also runs incredibly smoothly, maintaining a steady 60 frames per second during intense combat.

Devil May Cry 5: Special Edition was released for next-generation consoles like the PS5 and Xbox Series X, introducing the playable character Vergil to the main campaign. It also includes a new Legendary Dark Knight difficulty mode that floods levels with massive numbers of enemies. The Special Edition is not available as DLC for the base game on PS4 or Xbox One, requiring a separate purchase.
