Dried Turmeric Leaf

description Dried Turmeric Leaf Overview

Dried turmeric leaf comes from Curcuma longa, the same rhizomatous plant whose underground stem provides turmeric spice. The leaves have a mild, aromatic flavor and are used in parts of South and Southeast Asia to wrap, steam, or perfume food. In Indonesian cooking they are associated with preparations such as pepes ikan, in which fish and seasonings are wrapped in leaves before cooking. The leaf is a culinary wrapper and flavoring rather than the powdered root spice.
