Drill Fabric

description Drill Fabric Overview

Drill is a durable, twill-woven cotton fabric identified by its diagonal rib structure. The tight weave provides strength and resistance to tearing, which has made drill suitable for military uniforms, workwear, and industrial applications. Khaki drill, a tan-colored variant, was widely used for British military uniforms in tropical and colonial campaigns beginning in the late 19th century. Heavier drill fabrics have also been used for trousers, ticking, and corsetry.
