Dynjandi

Dynjandi is located in Iceland's remote Westfjords region, in the Arnarfjörður fjord, roughly 130 kilometers from the town of Ísafjörður. It sits along Route 60 and requires a drive onto Route 638 for the final approach, which can be challenging in winter but is well-marked during summer months.

Dynjandi has a cumulative height of approximately 100 meters (about 330 feet), making it one of the tallest waterfalls in Iceland. It cascades down in a series of tiers, with the main upper fall being the widest and most visually dramatic section.

Dynjandi has a distinctive trapezoidal shape, widening as it descends the cliff face so that the main cascade spreads out to roughly 30 meters across at the bottom. This widening staircase effect has led to comparisons with a bridal veil and makes it visually unique among Iceland's many waterfalls.

The main viewing area is accessible via a relatively easy 15- to 20-minute walk from the parking area along a well-maintained path. For closer views, a steeper trail continues up to the very base of the main cascade, adding another 15 minutes each way.
