Fiordo Bernardo

Fiordo Bernardo lies in Chile's Magallanes Region and is entirely within Bernardo O'Higgins National Park. The park is a remote protected landscape spanning fjords, glaciers, and parts of the Southern Patagonian Ice Field, as described by [CONAF](https://www.conaf.cl/parque_nacionales/parque-nacional-bernardo-ohiggins/).

It is not a road-access sightseeing stop: CONAF says the Magallanes side of the park is reached by sea from Punta Arenas, Puerto Natales, or Puerto Montt. Any trip to a remote fjord such as Bernardo therefore depends on an arranged maritime itinerary and park conditions.

The park's Magellanic rainforest includes coigüe de Magallanes, ciprés de las Guaitecas, and canelo, while wetter ground supports peat bogs. Those plants reflect the cool, rain-rich climate around Chilean Patagonia's fjords.

Bernardo O'Higgins National Park was created on July 22, 1969, and protects major ice fields, fjords, glaciers, and wildlife such as the huemul. It also preserves cultural traces of the Kawésqar people.
