Floyd Bennett was an American naval aviator and recipient of the Medal of Honor. He is best known for serving as the pilot alongside Richard E. Byrd during their claimed first flight over the North Pole on May 9, 1926, which took place in a Fokker F.VII trimotor aircraft. Although later analyses have cast doubt on whether they actually reached the pole, the achievement brought them national fame.

Bennett later played a key role in planning Byrd's Antarctic expeditions before his death from pneumonia in 1928.
