Fort Bullen is a British colonial fort on the northern bank of the Gambia River near its mouth in present-day The Gambia. It was established in 1826 during British efforts to control river access and suppress the Atlantic slave trade after its abolition by Britain. The fort later served as a customs post and military station. Its surviving remains form part of the country’s coastal historical heritage.
