description Gediz River Overview

The Gediz River is a 401-kilometer river in western Turkey. It rises in the Murat Mountains of Kütahya Province, flows west across the central Aegean region, and reaches the Aegean Sea through the Gediz Delta in the Gulf of İzmir. The river drains a large agricultural basin and supports irrigation in a fertile valley; its ancient Greek name was Hermos.
