Grant Barrett is an American lexicographer, writer, editor, and broadcaster known for documenting slang, jargon, and new words. He compiled and edited the Oxford Dictionary of American Political Slang, published by Oxford University Press in 2004, and later produced the Official Dictionary of Unofficial English. Barrett also created the Double-Tongued Dictionary, an online reference to emerging and nonstandard vocabulary, and co-hosts the language program A Way with Words. His work serves readers studying contemporary English usage.
