Inquisition - Nefarious Dismal Orations

Inquisition is a duo consisting of Dagon on vocals and guitar and Incubus on drums, a two-person configuration they have maintained throughout virtually their entire recording career. The band originally formed in Colombia before relocating to the United States, settling in the Pacific Northwest.

Dagon delivers his vocals in a sustained, low-pitched croak that has drawn comparisons to amphibian sounds, creating an eerie and hypnotic quality that is instantly recognizable within black metal. This unconventional delivery, layered over tremolo-picked repetitive riffs, gives Inquisition a sound that polarizes listeners but sets them apart from their peers.

The album's lyrics center on cosmic Satanism, occultism, anti-Christianity, and invocations of dark cosmic entities, consistent with Inquisition's broader discographic themes. These are delivered through Dagon's ritualistic vocal style over compositions that emphasize atmosphere and repetition over conventional song structures.

Nefarious Dismal Orations is the band's fourth full-length album, following earlier releases that established their signature hypnotic style. The band later achieved wider underground recognition with albums released through Season of Mist, including Obsidian Verses of the Inner Empire, which brought them to greater attention in the international black metal scene.
