description Jaipur Overview

Jaipur is a quick and engaging two-player card game centered around trading goods in a bustling Indian market. Players collect sets of goods to sell for points, while also trying to earn bonus points for being the first to sell a large quantity. The game is easy to learn but offers surprising strategic depth, with clever decisions about when to trade and when to risk holding onto goods. Its a perfect choice for casual game nights or introducing new players to the world of board games.

help Jaipur FAQ

Can more than two people play Jaipur?

No, Jaipur is designed specifically for two players. Each player acts as a trader competing to collect and sell goods, earn bonus tokens, and win two Seals of Excellence.

Why do camel cards not count toward Jaipur's hand limit?

Camels sit in a separate herd in front of the player rather than remaining in the hand. They can be exchanged for market goods, but taking all camels also gives the opponent first access to the newly refilled market.

Why should I sell expensive goods early in Jaipur?

Goods tokens decrease in value as matching goods are sold, so early diamond, gold, and silver sales claim the richest tokens. Waiting can still pay off if a larger set earns a strong three-card, four-card, or five-card bonus.

How long does a full game of Jaipur take?

A complete match commonly takes around 30 minutes once both players understand the turn options. A round ends when three goods-token stacks are empty or the market can no longer be refilled, and the first player to win two rounds takes the match.
