Jitney is a play by August Wilson set in an unlicensed taxi station in Pittsburgh's Hill District during the 1970s. Its drivers confront unstable work, strained family relationships, neighborhood redevelopment, and the threatened demolition of the station, while the play examines dignity and community under economic pressure. Written in an early form in 1979 and later revised, it is part of Wilson's ten-play Pittsburgh Cycle and reached Broadway in 2017.
