Jonathan Friedman is a Swedish-American anthropologist whose theoretical work addresses global systems, cultural identity, and political economy. He has developed theories on how globalization, migration, and economic restructuring shape cultural belonging and conflict. Much of his work was produced jointly with Kajsa Ekholm Friedman. Friedman has drawn on world-systems theory to analyze identity politics, nationalism, and the conditions of indigenous peoples.
