Kebnekaise

description Kebnekaise Overview

Kebnekaise is the highest mountain in Sweden, located in the Scandinavian Mountains in Swedish Lapland north of the Arctic Circle. The massif features two main summits: the glaciated Sydtoppen (South Peak) and the rocky Nordtoppen (North Peak). Elevation measurements of the South Peak fluctuate based on snow and ice accumulation, causing it to occasionally dip below the rocky North Peak due to glacial melt. The area is a notable destination for mountaineering, skiing, and hiking, situated near the northern section of the Kungsleden long-distance trail.
