The Kénédougou Kingdom was a pre-colonial West African monarchy that existed from about 1650 until the French conquest of Sikasso in 1898. It was established by the Dioula Traoré clan in a region centered on present-day southern Mali and extended into parts of northern Côte d'Ivoire and western Burkina Faso; many of its subjects were Senufo. The kingdom used the Mandé royal title faama, made Sikasso its capital in 1877, and ended when French forces captured the city on May 1, 1898.
