Kritios Boy is a marble statue of a youth dated to approximately 480 BCE, named after the sculptor Kritios to whom it is attributed. Discovered on the Athenian Acropolis in the 1860s, it is widely regarded as a pivotal work marking the transition from the rigid Archaic kouros style to early Classical Greek sculpture. It is among the earliest known statues to employ contrapposto, with weight shifted onto one leg, creating a more naturalistic pose. The statue stands roughly 117 cm tall and is housed in the Acropolis Museum in Athens.
