La Malinche, also known as Matlalcueitl, is a prominent dormant stratovolcano situated on the border between the states of Tlaxcala and Puebla in central Mexico. Rising to an elevation of 4,461 meters (14,636 feet), it is one of the most accessible and frequently climbed major peaks in the country. The mountain features well-developed pine and oak forests at lower elevations, transitioning to alpine grasslands and bare volcanic rock near its summit. It is a popular destination for hikers, mountaineers, and naturalists visiting the central Mexican highlands.
