Laphroaig Triple Wood

As the name suggests, this heavily peated single malt is matured in three types of casks: American bourbon barrels, European oak sherry butts, and Caribbean rum casks. This unique maturation process builds a complex spirit with smoky, vanilla, and dried fruit notes layered over Laphroaig's classic medicinal peat.

Laphroaig is famous for its heavy peat smoke, typically hitting around 40 to 50 phenol parts per million (PPM). Triple Wood retains this intense, medicinal smokiness but balances it with the sweeter, rich influences of the rum and sherry cask finishes.

Laphroaig is distilled on the Isle of Islay off the west coast of Scotland. The distillery was established in 1815 and uses malted barley dried over a peat fire to achieve its signature maritime and smoky character.

You can expect a bold combination of intense peat smoke, sea salt, and medicinal notes characteristic of Islay whiskies. These heavy flavors are beautifully rounded out by sweet vanilla from the bourbon barrels and rich dried fruit from the sherry and rum cask maturation.
