Linode Kubernetes Engine (LKE) is a managed Kubernetes service enabling users to deploy and manage containerized applications across Linode's global infrastructure without needing to maintain the control plane.
help Linode Kubernetes Engine FAQ
Does Linode Kubernetes Engine manage the control plane?
Yes, LKE manages Kubernetes control-plane components so users primarily administer worker nodes and workloads. The standard managed control plane is separate from the optional high-availability control-plane configuration.
Do I still pay for worker nodes in an LKE cluster?
Yes, the cluster's worker nodes are ordinary Akamai Cloud compute instances and are billed according to their selected plans. Load balancers, block storage and network usage can add separate charges.
Can LKE clusters be managed with Terraform?
Yes, Akamai provides a Terraform provider as well as an API and command-line tooling for LKE. The resulting cluster still uses standard Kubernetes tools such as kubectl and Helm.
