Longnose stingray

description Longnose stingray Overview

The longnose stingray is a marine stingray of the family Dasyatidae found in the western Atlantic, including coastal waters of the Caribbean and adjacent parts of South America. It is recognized by the elongated, pointed snout that gives the species its common name and by the venomous spine used for defense. The ray lives on or near the seafloor, where its flattened body and underside mouth are suited to benthic feeding.
