Makiko Tanaka is a Japanese politician from the Liberal Democratic Party and the daughter of former Prime Minister Kakuei Tanaka. She served as Japan's Minister for Foreign Affairs from 2001 to 2002 in the cabinet of Prime Minister Junichiro Koizumi, becoming the first woman to hold that office. Her tenure coincided with Koizumi's broader program of political and structural reform.
