Laurent Fabius is a French Socialist politician and diplomat who served as prime minister of France from 1984 to 1986 and as minister of foreign affairs from 2012 to 2016. As president of the 2015 United Nations climate conference in Paris, known as COP21, he directed negotiations culminating in the adoption of the Paris Agreement. He later became president of France's Constitutional Council, the body that reviews the constitutionality of legislation.
