Mankiala Stupa

description Mankiala Stupa Overview

Mankiala Stupa is a Buddhist monument near Mankiala village in Rawalpindi District, Punjab, Pakistan. The structure is generally dated to the 2nd century CE and is associated with the Kushan period, when Buddhist institutions flourished in the Gandhara region. Buddhist tradition links the site with a Jataka story in which a prince gives his body to feed a hungry tigress and her cubs, a religious association rather than a modern historical record.
