description Martin Indyk Overview

Martin Indyk was an Australian-born American diplomat and Middle East policy specialist whose career focused on relations among the United States, Israel, and Arab states. He served twice as United States ambassador to Israel, from 1995 to 1997 and from 2000 to 2001, and held senior Middle East posts in the Clinton administration. In 2013 and 2014 he served as the US special envoy for Israeli-Palestinian negotiations, and he also led research programs at the Brookings Institution.
