The Memorial Chorten is a large Tibetan style Buddhist stupa in Thimphu, Bhutan, built in 1974 in memory of Jigme Dorji Wangchuck, the country's third king. Unlike a conventional tomb, it does not contain the king's remains and instead represents the Buddhist mind and teachings. The monument is an active place of worship where devotees circumambulate clockwise, turn prayer wheels, and gather for religious observances.
