Morningrise

The album consists of exactly five extended compositions, which was characteristic of Opeth's early progressive death metal style. Several tracks, including the epic closer 'Black Rose Immortal,' exceed the ten-minute mark.

Morningrise was released in 1996 through Candlelight Records. It stands as the band's second studio album and was the final Opeth release to feature the original rhythm section of Johan DeFarfalla and Anders Nordin.

The record heavily blends aggressive death metal growls and heavy guitar riffs with intricate acoustic guitar interludes. It is also highly regarded for its lengthy, jazz-influenced basslines and complex song structures that avoid traditional verse-chorus formats.

The album was produced by Dan Swanö, a legendary figure in the Swedish death metal scene. Swanö had previously worked with the band and helped capture the raw, dual-guitar harmonies and acoustic dynamics that defined their early sound.
