description Obsidian Publish Overview

This is the publishing layer for Obsidian, designed specifically for users who want to share their deeply interconnected, private knowledge graph with a controlled audience. It takes the power of local Markdown files and presents them on a clean, professional, and highly readable web front. Its ideal for thought leaders or researchers who want to monetize or share their structured insights without sacrificing the underlying Markdown integrity.

help Obsidian Publish FAQ

Does Obsidian Publish upload my entire vault?

No. You select the notes and attachments to publish, and unpublished local files remain outside the site unless you add them later.

Can an Obsidian Publish site use a custom domain?

Yes, Publish supports custom domains as well as the standard publish.obsidian.md address. It also supports features suited to digital gardens and documentation, including backlinks, graph view and full-text search.

Is Obsidian Publish a replacement for Quartz or Hugo?

Publish is a managed hosting service that lets users publish from inside Obsidian without maintaining a build pipeline. Quartz, Hugo and Jekyll offer more control over source code and deployment, but require separate hosting and technical setup.
