description Paraptenodytes antarcticus Overview
Paraptenodytes antarcticus is an extinct penguin from the Early Miocene of Patagonia, Argentina. It is known from a near-complete skeleton and additional material, including a specimen with much of the skull and postcranial skeleton, which has allowed detailed comparisons with living and fossil penguins. The relatively extensive material permits study of the anatomy and relationships of early Miocene South American penguins.
