description Paro moai (Easter Island) Overview
Paro was a large moai erected at Ahu Te Pito Kura on Rapa Nui, also called Easter Island. Measuring close to 10 meters tall and commonly estimated at roughly 80 tonnes, it is regarded as the tallest moai known to have been successfully transported and raised on an ahu platform. The statue was carved from volcanic tuff at Rano Raraku and now lies fallen, so descriptions of it as the tallest erected moai refer to its historical placement.
