Petersburg is a meteorite that fell near Petersburg, Tennessee, in 1855 and is classified as a howardite. Howardites are polymict breccias containing material related to eucrites and diogenites, rock types generally interpreted as originating from the crust of the differentiated asteroid 4 Vesta. The meteorite is studied by planetary scientists as a physical sample of impact-mixed regolith from a differentiated parent body.
