Phil Monroe was an American animator and director who spent much of his career at Warner Bros. Cartoons. Working primarily within Chuck Jones's animation unit, he contributed to the classic "Looney Tunes" and "Merrie Melodies" theatrical shorts. Following Jones's dismissal from the studio in 1962, Monroe stepped in to direct and finish several unreleased Bugs Bunny cartoons, including "Mad as a Mars Hare." He continued working in animation for various studios throughout the 1960s and 1970s.
