Resident Evil REmake

Resident Evil (often called REmake) was originally released exclusively for the Nintendo GameCube in 2002. It was later ported to the Wii, and eventually received an HD Remaster in 2015 for the PlayStation 4, Xbox One, and PC. The HD version significantly updated the backgrounds and character models for modern displays.

Capcom added a terrifying new enemy type called 'Crimson Heads' to the REmake. If a player kills a regular zombie but doesn't burn the corpse with kerosene, it will eventually revive as a faster, more aggressive Crimson Head. This mechanic fundamentally changed how players navigated the Spencer Mansion.

The original 2002 GameCube release retains the classic 'tank controls' and uses static, pre-rendered camera angles. However, the 2015 HD Remaster added an optional alternate control scheme. This modern control mode allows players to move their character in the direction of the analog stick, bypassing the traditional clunky movement.

The game was developed and published by Capcom, under the direct supervision of series creator Shinji Mikami. Mikami aimed to fix the flaws of the 1996 original and utilize the GameCube's advanced graphical capabilities. It is widely considered by critics to be one of the greatest survival horror games ever made.
