The rufous mouse opossum, Marmosa lepida, is a small South American marsupial in the family Didelphidae. It occurs in western Amazonia and parts of the Guianas, where it is associated with tropical forest environments. The species was formally described by the English zoologist Oldfield Thomas in 1888 and is one of the mouse opossums rather than a true placental mouse.
