Salyut 4 was a Soviet civilian space station launched on December 26, 1974, into low Earth orbit as part of the long-running Salyut program. An uncrewed Soyuz vehicle designated Soyuz 20 also docked with the station to test modified systems. Salyut 4 was deliberately deorbited in February 1977 after completing its operational mission.
