Samuel Blatchford was an American lawyer and judge who served as an Associate Justice of the Supreme Court of the United States from 1882 until his death in 1893. President Chester A. Arthur appointed him to the Court after his service as a federal circuit judge. Blatchford's legal work included admiralty and patent cases, areas in which he had substantial experience.

His career is relevant to the study of nineteenth-century federal courts and American legal history.
