Howell Edmunds Jackson was an American attorney, politician, federal judge, and Associate Justice of the United States Supreme Court from 1893 until his death in 1895. President Benjamin Harrison nominated him to the Court after Jackson had served as a senator from Tennessee and a federal circuit judge. In Pollock v. Farmers' Loan and Trust Company, Jackson joined the dissent at rehearing and argued that the federal income tax was constitutional.
