Shuttle-shaped dart moth

description Shuttle-shaped dart moth Overview

The shuttle-shaped dart moth, Agrotis puta, is a noctuid moth described by Jacob Hübner in 1803. It occurs across much of Europe and extends into North Africa and parts of the Middle East; records from western Europe describe adults with a wingspan of about 30 to 32 millimetres and a flight period from May to October. The larvae feed on a range of low-growing plants, so the species is encountered in grassland, gardens, and other open habitats where its food plants grow.
