The silky shrew opossum is a small marsupial in the family Caenolestidae and the order Paucituberculata. Its scientific name is Caenolestes fuliginosus, and it occurs in Andean habitats of Colombia, Ecuador, and Venezuela. Like other shrew opossums, it has a pointed snout, a furry body, and a diet based largely on small invertebrates. It is not a true shrew, despite its common name.
