SS Ivernia was a British ocean liner operated by the Cunard Line and later used as a troop transport during the First World War. On 1 January 1917, the German submarine UB-47 torpedoed the ship in the Mediterranean near Cape Matapan, Greece, while it was carrying troops. The vessel sank with the loss of 84 people from roughly 2,400 aboard.
