The starry ray (Amblyraja radiata), also known as the thorny skate, is a species of marine ray found across the North Atlantic Ocean. Its range extends from Iceland and Greenland to the Grand Banks of Newfoundland, and southward along the coasts of Europe and North America. The species is characterized by a prominent row of large thorns along its midline and a dorsal surface covered in small dark spots.
