Sultan Marshes is a wetland complex in central Anatolia south of Kayseri, Turkey, within the Develi Closed Basin. It comprises freshwater marshes, brackish lagoons, salt steppe, and extensive Phragmites reedbeds in areas traditionally known as Kebir Sazlığı and Örtülüakar. The site was designated a Wetland of International Importance under the Ramsar Convention in 1994 and is recognized as an Important Bird Area. Sultan Marshes functions as a major breeding, wintering, and migration stopover for waterbirds on the African-Eurasian flyway, hosting species such as greater flamingo, pygmy cormorant, and marbled duck.
