description Torino Astronomical Observatory Overview

The Astrophysical Observatory of Turin is an Italian INAF research institute whose history is traditionally traced to 1759, when Giovanni Battista Beccaria conducted work on measuring the meridian arc of Turin. Located in Pino Torinese, it operates several telescopes, including a 1.05-meter Reosc astrometric reflector built in 1974. Its planetology research examines asteroids and other small Solar System bodies, including near-Earth objects, and supports studies of their physical properties and impact risk.
