description V/Line N Class Overview

The V/Line N Class is a class of diesel-electric locomotives utilized by V/Line, the regional passenger train operator in Victoria, Australia. Manufactured by Clyde Engineering and introduced in 1985, these locomotives operate regional passenger and occasional freight services across the state. They were developed to supplement and replace older rolling stock on Victoria's broad gauge and standard gauge networks. The N Class has been a fundamental component of Victoria's regional rail fleet since its introduction.
