Wacom Bamboo Fun

The 2007 Bamboo Fun package included the pen tablet, the pressure-sensitive pen, and a matching wireless mouse, which was unusual for graphics tablets of the time. It also bundled creative software, notably Adobe Photoshop Elements and Corel Painter Essentials, aimed at photo editing and doodling.

It can work with Windows PCs using older legacy drivers that Wacom still makes available, but support has effectively ended and the newest macOS releases do not support it. Many users keep an older machine or dual-boot specifically to use Bamboo-era tablets.

The Bamboo Fun was positioned as the hobbyist-creative version of the 2007 Bamboo line, adding the wireless mouse and the serious bundled software like Photoshop Elements and Corel Painter Essentials. The standard Bamboo was aimed more at basic navigation and note-taking without that creative package.

The Bamboo generation offered 512 levels of pen pressure, which was half the 1024 levels of the contemporary professional Intuos3 tablets. For sketching and photo editing it was adequate, though it predated the finer control of later Pro lines.
