Wallachian Plain

description Wallachian Plain Overview

The Wallachian Plain, also called the Romanian Plain, is a broad lowland in southern Romania, with a small extension into eastern Serbia. The Danube borders it to the south, while the Getic Plateau and the Carpathian foothill region lie to the north. Its sediment-rich soils and relatively flat terrain support major agricultural activity, and Bucharest lies in its central part. The historical association with Wallachia explains the plain's name.
