Western Star Trucks

Western Star Trucks is a Daimler Truck North America brand. Its vehicles are built for heavy-duty commercial and vocational applications rather than ordinary passenger-car use.

The Western Star 47X and 49X are prominent modern examples for vocational, construction, and severe-duty applications. The larger 57X and 6900 families serve different highway or heavy-haul requirements depending on configuration.

Western Star offers choices involving wheelbase, axle layouts, engines, transmissions, cab configurations, and vocational bodies. That lets fleets configure a truck for applications such as dump work, concrete, logging, heavy haul, or long-distance transport.

They cover both vocational and highway work, although the best-known identity of the brand is rugged heavy-duty operation. The 49X can be configured for vocational work, while models such as the 57X are associated more closely with highway applications.
