The Whipsnade Lion is a large hill figure carved into the Dunstable Downs in Bedfordshire, England. Created in 1933, the geoglyph serves as the emblem for the nearby ZSL Whipsnade Zoo. Measuring approximately 483 feet across, it is one of the largest hill figures in the United Kingdom, constructed by stripping away the topsoil to reveal the white chalk underneath. The figure is positioned on a steep slope, making it clearly visible from the surrounding valleys and passing railway lines.
