White Glove Shrimp

The White Glove shrimp is a freshwater aquarium shrimp from Sulawesi, Indonesia. It is notable for distinctive pale white coloration on its legs or claws that visually resembles white gloves, setting it apart from other dwarf shrimp in the aquarium hobby.

Like other Sulawesi-origin shrimp, the White Glove shrimp prefers warm, alkaline water conditions, typically with temperatures around 77–86°F (25–30°C) and a pH above 7.0. These parameters reflect the unique chemistry of the ancient lake systems in Sulawesi where these species evolved.

Sulawesi shrimp, including the White Glove, are generally considered more challenging to keep than common aquarium shrimp such as Neocaridina davidi (Cherry shrimp). They require stable, specific water parameters and are sensitive to fluctuations, making them better suited for experienced shrimp keepers.

White Glove shrimp originate from the lake systems of Sulawesi, Indonesia, a region famous for its endemic freshwater shrimp species found nowhere else in the world. These ancient lakes have produced numerous distinct color morphs prized in the international aquarium trade.
