The Yeni Camii, or New Mosque, is an Ottoman imperial mosque located near the Eminönü waterfront in Istanbul. Construction was begun in 1597 at the order of Safiye Sultan, mother of Sultan Mehmed III, but work stalled for decades and the mosque was completed only in 1663 under the patronage of Turhan Hatice Sultan, mother of Mehmed IV. The complex includes a hospital, school, and public fountain within its külliye. Architect Davut Ağa began the project; Dalgıç Ahmed Ağa completed it.
